Hotel Los Alpes in Quito Ecuador

Lonely Planet Guide to Ecuador & Galapagos. "a real beauty ... artsy Latin American feel"

Ecuador & Galapagos Handbook. "excellent restaurant, comfortable"

Tripadvisor.com rates Los Alpes in the top five hotels in Quito. Our customers have written many positive comments on this website. Some examples: "The staff are really lovely and the restaurant is absolutely excellent in the evenings." and "I stayed with my family at Hostel Los Alpes for several days in late July-early August 2008. All I can say is "ditto" to the other positive reviews on Tripadvisor. It has a very homey atmosphere and the staff are extremely helpful, especially Dino, who doubles as bell hop and dinner waiter. Our first night, we arrived late for dinner (after 9 PM) and they kept the kitchen open late for us." More reviews of Los Alpes can be found here

Kaarin Tisue of the Chicago Tribune wrote an article on Los Alpes after staying with us in June 2007. "Accommodations abound in Quito for the backpacker budget, but paying a little more brought me considerable relaxation and peace of mind at Hotel Los Alpes, a small hotel ideal for women traveling solo and anyone who values comfort and charm over luxury. It's an easy choice for people who, like me, are spending a little time in the Ecuadorean capital before and after a cruise in the Galapagos Islands." Review on Yahoo! travel. "Hotel Los Alpes is a great little hotel run by Claudio Facchinei. Our first stay was in 1989, and we have stayed there over seven times on our return trips to Ecuador." To see the whole review please follow this link.

A family who stayed with us in 2004 included us in their journal. "The hostal is located on a quiet street in a very secure and safe section of Quito--quite near the American Embassy. And when we left for as many as 5 days at a time, the owners gladly stored our luggage and junk, having it back in our room on our return--clean laundry and all. The warmth and service could not be duplicated at a Hilton, Mercure, etc. It was nice!" To read the whole journal please follow this link.
